I never thought I would be introducing myself as an interior designer, let alone starting my own company. It wasn't until about 2009 that it dawned on me what I wanted to do with my life.
Back when I was younger, (in middle school and high school) I remember going over to friends' houses and thinking to myself, "What a horrible looking room". Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and know that they had nothing to do with it back then. ;) Growing up, I was lucky enough that my parents let me design my bedrooms. One day I went to my parents and asked them if they could take me to get some paint for my walls. They were weary at first when I was explaining that black was to be one of the colors used and that I might need more than one gallon...Don't worry- it wasn't what you think. They agreed to get me the paint but I was to do the work myself. Let's just say I got through half a wall and dad took over. After the paint had dried and the furniture was better planned in the space, my friends never wanted to leave the lounge that I had created.
Years passed, (lots of) sports were played, and my thoughts of any art related career had vanished. I ended up going to college for 6 years, and only came out with a Bachelors degree. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely proud of that, just wished I didn't change majors a couple times and finished a tad faster. Dental hygiene, to business marketing, and finally back to design. Amen. Fresno State, class of 2012!
